PRAYER CONFERENCE
PRAYER CONFERENCE
“Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God,and cry out to the LORD” (Joel 1;14)
The call to repentant prayer and fasting for the nations, the church and the families is louder now than ever. Many men and women of God have changed the course of history through travailing and repentant prayer. God has made a promise and He has always bound Himself by His promise. His promise is:
13 If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people, 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.15Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. (1 Chronicle2 7:14)
PRAYER CONFERENCE FOR THE CHURCHES
DLM recognise the need to put an end to the long period of prayer-drought. We invite all born-again Christians who have been burdened to see the nations, the governments, the clergy, the families and the churches turn back to God to get involved with a series of prayer conferences we have organised. We’re holding prayer conferences in various parts of the United Kingdom; and inviting born-again believers to attend so we can fast and pray over the nations and the churches and see God’s kingdom come down.
Our prayer conferences are interdenominational in nature and we welcome all Christians to join us t0 intercede for the nations. The prayer conferences give opportunities for networking amongst churches and Christians across the nations.
We can hold prayer conferences at individual churches which helps to give recognition and make the presence of a local church known to the local community.
The Prayer Conference help churches to become a mighty force to fight against the forces of evil – principalities, powers and wicked spirits in the high place (Eph 4).
IDEAS FOR PRAYER MEETINGS
Our God listens to individual prayers. However, throughout the Scriptures, it is shown that praying with others has a might power. The Lord Jesus Christ:
19Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. 20For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.” (Mat 18:19-20).
We encourage you to join a church community to pray together and believe our God to hear us and heal our nations, families, institutions and the society as a whole.
To make our prayer conference, we may follow the tips below to guide our prayer meetings:
1. Start by praying
It is extremely important that we do not lose focus of why we have gathered. It might sound obvious, but there have been several prayer meetings that have just led to discussions about issues without prayer. Our conference start with prayer to invite the Holy Spirit to lead and direct the attendees to pray the way God wants us to pray. We pray for insight and believe God to reveal His mind to us regarding the things we need to pray about. We pray that the people gathered will be one mind, believe that God is there to answer our prayers and cast out doubt and double-mindedness which are hindrances to prayer (Jas 1:6-7; Heb 11:6).
2. Greetings and Welcome Message
It is beneficial to give members the chance to interact with each other and to familiarize themselves with each. If people at the prayer conference come from churches, then these members and churches are introduced to each other. This interaction helps to ease people of any tension and to open up to God and to each other. The leaders of the conference will give a welcome message to encourage the conference attendees to understand why they have gathered and the need to pray for the nations.
3. Sharing the purpose of the meeting
To ensure that the minds of the attendees are set on the purpose of the meeting, we share the purpose of the prayer meeting and encourage members to avoid any distractions. We share encouraging messages from the Bible using specific story or Bible passage, photos and videos to inform the mind and inspire the heart.
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands
lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy
(1 Tim 2:8)
4. Use different models of prayer
All Christian engage with God in prayer differently and it is important that our prayer conference uses a variety of styles to ensure that everyone in any of our prayer meeting is able to pray in a way that suits them. We adopt a range of styles including:
Praise and Worship:
We provide opportunities for members to pray, praise and worship God throughout the prayer services. We play instruments to help attendees to welcome the Holy Spirit, and to be mindful of God’s presence and His incomparable great power to do much more abundantly above what we can thing is imagine. The praise and worship help people to focus and refocus on the Great God is instead on their circumstance on environment.
Several Sessions:
We split each prayer meeting into several short sessions that that focuses on specific themes of prayer. This helps attendees to pray specifically about matters of importance. This also help people to focus and get engaged as many people find long periods of prayer challenging.
Getting Others Involve:
Our prayer conferences many have different speakers/leaders to give short talks about the issue to be prayed about and to lead on particular issues.
Seek Revelations:
We believe that during prayer meetings the Lord can reveal His mind to us about specific issues. The leaders will pray over revelations that anyone will have and check with scriptures and where needed, this revelation will be shared with members to give direction to our prayers or encourage further prayer.
Praying Out Loud:
We encourage people to pray aloud as the apostles did in the early church. The Bible says, they raised up their voices together in prayer. We challenge all members at our prayer conference to pray out loud together in passionate, personal prayer.
5. Make time for listening
We believe that our God speaks to us as we speak to Him. And so, as well as praying to God, we make space to hear from God during your prayer time. When God speaks, He always affirms His Word like in the Bible. Different people often receive the same word or theme.
6. Concluding well
We conclude our prayer conference with praise and giving thanks to God with the assurance that God has heard and answered our prayer. This is an expression of our faith and we know God rewards faith. We summarise the prayer topics and encourage attendee to continue to pray or thank God for answering our prayer. We share our arrangements to meet and pray together in the future.
